Political Journey

This section outlines key stages of Md Aminul Islam's involvement in student movements, political organisations and public life.

Early involvement in student activities

Quota Reform Movement - 2018

Mr. Islam's involvement in student and civic activity began during the Quota Reform and Student Movement of 2018, when university students across Bangladesh mobilised to demand fairness, equality, and transparency in the public recruitment system. Witnessing widespread injustice, he moved from political disillusionment to active participation, joining student organisers who were advocating for systemic reforms. This period not only shaped his political consciousness but also introduced him to grassroots mobilisation, strategic organising, and public advocacy—skills that later defined his broader role in both national and diaspora movements. His early engagement with the Bangladesh Students' Rights Council, formed in the aftermath of the movement, marked the beginning of his sustained commitment to student rights, democratic activism, and civic leadership.

Anti-Discrimination Student Movement 2024

Md Aminul Islam played a visible role in the July Uprising 2024, a significant moment in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement's international solidarity efforts. According to the information you provided, he was among the earliest UK-based activists to speak out publicly against the autocratic government during this period, participating in the demonstration held at Altab Ali Park in London. This event, attended by youth leaders, activists, and members of the Bangladeshi diaspora, helped amplify international attention on the student-led struggle in Bangladesh and strengthened the bridge between domestic resistance and global advocacy.
