Early involvement in student activities
Quota Reform Movement - 2018
Mr. Islam's involvement in student and civic activity began during the Quota Reform and Student Movement of 2018, when university students across
Bangladesh mobilised to demand fairness, equality, and transparency in the public recruitment system. Witnessing widespread injustice,
he moved from political disillusionment to active participation, joining student organisers who were advocating for systemic reforms.
This period not only shaped his political consciousness but also introduced him to grassroots mobilisation, strategic organising, and
public advocacy—skills that later defined his broader role in both national and diaspora movements. His early engagement with the Bangladesh
Students' Rights Council, formed in the aftermath of the movement, marked the beginning of his sustained commitment to student rights, democratic
activism, and civic leadership.
